  • Services are offered in-person in Houston, TX or virtually across Texas, Minnesota, Colorado, Indiana, the District of Columbia (D.C.), Maine, or Maryland

If you're looking for a compassionate and experienced therapist who can help you find a clear path towards recovery, I’m here to help. My approach is warm, empathetic, and client-centered, while also being firm and direct, challenging you to step beyond your comfort zone and empowering you throughout your therapeutic journey.

I specialize in working with young adults and teens (14+) navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and self-esteem challenges, individuals and families affected by substance use disorders, those living with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and/or complex mental health conditions, and men seeking therapeutic support to strengthen their ability to identify and express their emotions in healthy ways.

My goal as a therapist is to help clients uncover the underlying factors contributing to their problems with substance use and/or mental health symptoms and support them on their path to recovery. Together, we will explore the root causes of your struggles and develop effective coping skills and strategies for long-term healing and well-being. I use evidence-based practices including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, attachment-based therapy, and self-compassion techniques.

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and licensed chemical dependency counselor (LCDC). I earned my Bachelor's in Psychology from St. Edward's University and a Master of Social Work from The University of Houston. With over 10 years of experience in the mental health and substance use industry, my clinical experience in the field took place in diverse therapeutic settings, including residential treatment, community integration mental health programs, a prevention program at a Houston private high school, The Menninger Clinic, and the J. Flowers Health Institute.

I entered into the field of mental health due to early life exposure to the treatment world through the role of a family member supporting a loved one, both one in long-term recovery and later supporting my older sibling in the midst of their mental health and substance use struggles. I often say that I was raised in the rooms of alcoholics anonymous (AA) and found myself called to the field of mental health. Through these experiences and my own personal work in therapy, I developed a deep understanding of the complexities of addiction, recovery, and mental health struggles.

Therapist

  • Services are offered in-person in Houston, TX or virtually across Texas

If you’re seeking a warm, supportive therapist with experience treating trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, and borderline personality disorder (BPD) I’d be honored to work with you. You don’t have to face these challenges alone.

My name is Gabriela Treviño, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Houston, Texas. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a minor in Spanish Language from Baylor University and later obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work.

I’ve worked with individuals across the lifespan, from children to older adults, in a variety of settings. I began my career in school-based programs and later provided inpatient care for both adolescents and adults at The Menninger Clinic. I’ve also worked in hospital settings and offered individual therapy to youth through the UTHealth System.

My passion for therapy grew from personal experiences of hardship as a young adult and witnessing a family member struggle with addiction. These experiences showed me firsthand how powerful therapy and supportive communities can be in helping individuals and families navigate challenges and feel less alone.

I specialize in working with teens (16+) and young adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, attachment challenges, identity concerns, and borderline personality disorder (BPD). My work is grounded in evidence-based practices and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), mindfulness, empowerment theory, and person-centered approaches to support lasting change.

Clients describe my style as empathetic, relational, and collaborative. I focus on creating a space where you can explore what’s holding you back, strengthen emotional balance, and build the confidence to move forward. Together, we’ll identify your strengths, practice new skills, and work toward meaningful, sustainable growth.
