Substance Use Counseling
in Houston, TX
Healing Lane Therapy offers substance use counseling in Houston, TX for people who are ready to look honestly at their relationship with substances — without shame, labels, or pressure to have it all figured out. Our Houston substance use counselors specialize in dual diagnosis, meaning we treat both the substance use and the underlying mental health issues driving it, whether that is trauma, anxiety, depression, or BPD. We work with individuals, teens, young adults, and families, in person in Houston and via telehealth across Texas.
Regain Control and Reclaim Your Life.
Finding a space to talk honestly about substance use can be rare. We are dedicated to providing authentic, non-judgmental support for people who often feel misunderstood in traditional therapy settings, including men who feel the pressure to "hold it together," and teens or young adults navigating the social and emotional weight of using. Whether you are looking to stop entirely, cut back, or simply understand why you use, we’re here to help you untangle the complexity without shame. You don’t have to have it all figured out to walk through our doors; you just need a place where you can be entirely yourself.

WHY WORK WITH OUR TEAM
Compassionate, Skilled, and Judgment-Free.
We believe that shame is the enemy of healing. We know that walking into a therapy office to talk about substance use takes immense courage, you might fear a lecture, a label, or being told you have to change before you are ready. Our team is made up of real people who understand that substance use is rarely the problem itself; often, it is a solution to deep-seated pain, anxiety, or trauma. We don’t view you through the lens of a diagnosis. We view you as a whole human being. We offer a space held with genuine empathy and curiosity, where you can explore your relationship with substances without fear of being shamed or misunderstood.
We specialize in "Dual Diagnosis" work. We know that substance use is often intertwined with trauma, anxiety, depression, or another undiagnosed issue. We don’t just focus on the substance; we treat the underlying mental health struggles driving the use, helping you build a life where you don’t feel the need to escape. Our practice owner, Mary Duran, holds both an LCSW and an LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor), a specialized credential in substance use treatment that most therapy practices in Houston cannot offer.
Compassion is our foundation, but skill is our tool. We use Motivational Interviewing to help you explore your own reasons for change at your own pace, while integrating active modalities like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for managing cravings and Trauma-Focused CBT for processing the past. We don’t just listen; we give you the concrete coping strategies you need to handle stress, regulate your emotions, and "surf the urge" in the real world.
