About Me

Meghan Zeien, LCSW - Houston therapist specializing in anxiety, depression, and trauma.

My passion for mental health work began long before my professional career. Through personal experiences, I witnessed firsthand how mental health challenges can profoundly affect individuals and the people who love them. Those experiences inspired a deep commitment to helping others navigate life's difficulties with greater understanding, resilience, and hope. Today, I bring that commitment into my work by providing warm, compassionate, and person-centered care while also being direct and intentional in helping clients move toward meaningful change.

I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, identity development, and other emotional or behavioral challenges. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals who find themselves in transitional periods of life, whether they are navigating changes in relationships, education, careers, parenthood, or personal identity. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths-based, helping clients recognize their existing abilities while developing new skills to overcome obstacles and build the life they want.

My clinical experience includes working with individuals facing high-acuity mental health concerns at The Menninger Clinic, where I gained extensive experience supporting clients with complex presentations. I have also worked closely with survivors of trauma and understand the lasting impact traumatic experiences can have on emotional well-being, relationships, and daily functioning. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based approaches, I tailor treatment to meet each client's unique needs and goals.

Outside of my professional life, I am a parent and love spending time with my family, an avid book lover, and someone who finds joy in spending time in nature. I am especially fascinated by the creatures that share my outdoor spaces, particularly jumping spiders, whose curiosity and resilience never fail to capture my attention. I believe that healing often begins with feeling genuinely seen and understood, and I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients can safely explore their experiences, discover their strengths, and move toward a more fulfilling life.

My Specialities

Therapy with me is:

  • I believe that feeling genuinely seen is the foundation of healing. We will build an authentic connection where your curiosity and resilience are celebrated as you rediscover your strengths.

  • We are teammates in this process. I work alongside you to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be, helping you turn your existing resilience into a tactical toolkit of evidence-based skills.

  • You are the expert on your own life, and I am here to meet you exactly where you are. My approach is tailored entirely to your unique needs, honoring your individual pace while celebrating your inherent resilience.

  • I show up as a real person in the room, not a clinical blank slate. I believe in being genuine and honest with you, creating a space where you can feel comfortable being your truest self.

HOW DO I KNOW WE ARE A GOOD FIT?

We will likely be a good fit if —

  • You value warmth balanced with directness. You need a compassionate space to land, but you also want a teammate who is intentional and direct about moving you toward change.

  • You are navigating a major life transition. Whether it’s parenthood, a career shift, or an identity evolution, you want a therapist who understands the specific stuckness of these seasons.

  • You carry heavy or complex concerns. My background with high-acuity cases at The Menninger Clinic means I am not easily overwhelmed; we can look at complex presentations together without judgment.

  • You are ready to turn your strengths into a tactical toolkit using evidence-based skills like TF-CBT, ACT, CAMS, and DBT to overcome daily obstacles.

  • You want to move from survival to fulfillment. You value a space where your curiosity and resilience are celebrated, helping you feel truly seen and understood as you rebuild.

We will likely not be a good fit if —

  • You want a passive therapist. My style is active and intentional. If you prefer a therapist who stays silent or rarely offers feedback, my approach may feel like too much.

  • You prefer a rigid medical model. I prioritize a deeply human, person-centered connection. If you are looking for a formal or cold expert vibe, we won't be in alignment.

  • You’re looking for a quick fix. Healing, especially from trauma, is a practice of consistent growth. I don’t offer overnight solutions, but I do offer a path toward lasting resilience.

  • You want someone to make your decisions. My goal is to help you find your own agency. I am here to help you navigate, but you are always in the driver’s seat.
