Teen Therapy In Houston
With Mary Duran, LCSW, LCDC
And Gabriela Treviño, LCSW
We both have years of experience in teen mental health — including working in high school settings as well as treatment programs.
Is your teen pulling away from you?
Do they seem unsure of who they are or where they fit?
Are you worried about their confidence, friendships, or impulsive behavior?
Teen years are about figuring out identity. That can look like mood swings, risk taking, or rejecting family. Parents often tell us, “I just want my kid back.” Teens tell us they feel misunderstood, isolated, or pressured. They want independence but still need support. They crave someone in their corner who is not their parent.
Teens Come To Us When They Experience

How Teen Therapy With Us Works
We start by building real rapport. Your teen needs to trust that we are not just another authority figure. We are not another parent. We are their advocate and a teammate on their side of the net.
Sessions are collaborative and direct. We help teens slow down impulses, understand their emotions, and learn how to communicate what they need without blowing up or shutting down.
Modalities We Use
-
Teaches impulse control, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness when feelings feel too big.
-
Strengthens trust with safe adults and improves relationship patterns at home.
-
Builds skills for friendships, boundaries, and healthy communication.
-
Helps teens name what they feel instead of acting it out.
-
Explores interests, values, and what they like and do not like as they grow into themselves.
We also collaborate with parents.
Together, we create a plan so the whole family knows how to respond and support growth.
Reconnect With Your Child
As teens gain clarity and skills, families can repair communication.
After Therapy, Parents + Teens Report:
Better emotional control
Fewer blow ups
Improved school performance
Improved impulsivity
Healthier friendships
Clearer communication
More confidence
Less family conflict
Progress does not mean perfection, but it does mean a steadier ground for everyone.
